Building up the street children through family rapprochement

JAKARTA (Pos Kota) – Family rapprochement is the most effective way to develop street children.  This is the method chosen by the Social Department to overcome the street children problem which has mushroomed in the country. 

“Street children usually come from disharmonious family relationships and families lacking in resources.  Therefore the Social Department will make an effort to develop the street children through family rapprochement,” said the official of the board of neglected children at the Social Department, Mr. Rachmat Koesnadi, MS, Monday (5/25).

Using rapprochement we will know why the children live in the streets. “Is it because of the economy, or the children themselves?” said Rachmat.

According to the data, today there are 3,488,309 neglected children, 1,178,824 neglected street children below the age of 5, 10,322,674 emotionally disturbed neglected children and 367,520 physically defective street children. (tri/o)
