Past Friends Visit Connor's House
They came to visit Daniel at Connor's house while Daniel was out. Daniel and Naomi know them from when they lived in the shop-house in 2009/2010. The visitors still remembered Daniel and came to visit him. Daniel and Naomi bought some groceries and went to the address they had left with the staff. They are squatters illegally living in a tent of their own making from scavenged materials from the local dump. They illegally plant vegetables on someone else's land using their very limited resources, hoping to be around long enough to harvest a crop. This is their reality -- their life: dirt floor, no bathroom, no kitchen, no schooling for the children. Even though dirt poor, they are better off than some of their neighbors because of their farming efforts. They asked for nothing.

Tante Emmy
Daniel says, "I was first introduced to Tante Emmy about 12 years ago when I was preaching for the congregation that met in Pinangsia. Steve baptized her younger sister-in-law and several others of the family back in the 1970's. This lady never married and has been living with her brother's family for many years and faithfully attended worship services as long as she was physically able. She usually walked bent over, probably because of Osteoporosis. She finally reached a state that the family could no longer care for her at home so she was placed in a nursing facility. She has lived 93 years and is now pretty much bedfast." A nephew of hers telephoned Daniel a few days ago and told him she had been sent to the hospital and they were uncertain of what the outcome might be. They asked if he would visit her in the hospital. He did and shortly after that she was able to return to the nursing home. Daniel was pleased that when she saw him she recognized him and was happy to see him again.

New Born and Elderly
Daniel's mother was born over 84 years ago. She's still in good physical health but has some memory problems typical of her years. Below her photo is a photo of all three of the new-borns living in Connor's House. We're also posting a photo of "D" walking in her walker. These photos arrived this morning. I hope you enjoy them.

A Mountain of Carved Stone -- Borobudur
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borobudur
Indonesia was once a Buddhist empire with wide influence in Southeast Asia. The Borobudur temple demonstrates Indonesian power and dominance back in the 8th century; but, eventually as the population converted to Islam the temple left unattended was covered up with volcanic ash and jungle growth until it was almost forgotten. In the 1800's first the British, then the Dutch and later the Indonesian government cleared away the debris and encroaching jungle growth and restored this monumental mountain of carved stone. It is today a major tourist attraction and a true marvel.
I have my own photos of this monument taken back in 1971 but they are all on 35 mm slides which I cannot easily reproduce here so I hope you will want to click the link above and look over the article with accompanying photos of this very interesting place located in central Java.
