Look who came to visit...!
Look who came to visit us! Little Karina. You can read her whole story if you search through previous blogs; but, just as a reminder, her mother worked for us helping with laundry, cooking and other chores. However, after getting married she realized that she was in the second wife position -- a position she would never have agreed to had she known beforehand. So she divorced her husband. A few weeks after the divorce she realized she was pregnant. She told us of her condition and offered to resign her job but Daniel told her to just continue working for us and we would take care of her prenatal care and help with the expenses of the birth. At first she wanted to leave Karina with us and keep the birth secret from her family but they eventually found out and accepted the baby. After a few months with us her mother did quit her job and returned to the village with Karina.
We do not force the babies to stay with us. All our babies are left with us voluntarily and the mothers are free to come pick them up if they ever decide to do so. Neither do we solicit new mothers. We do not advertise our services. Women who find themselves with an unwanted pregnancy learn of us through word of mouth and seek us out. When they come to us they come on their own volition. All aspects of our relationship with the pregnant women are on a voluntary basis. None of the mothers or babies are exploited and none are ever held against their will. They are free to go or come even if just for a short visit. "Hello, Karina."
